The October meeting has been designated as the annual meeting (elections). An Orientation meeting for new members will be held in February and an open Rules Forum will be held in April. The Board of Directors will meet at least once a month.
The fiscal year is from January 1st thru December 31st. Dues are $95 per year and are payable in full by December 20th. Failure to pay on time will result in a reinstatement charge of $20.00 up until Feb. 28th ($115). After Feb. 28th, you will be considered a new member ($140).
To encourage participation in club events, we have established the Member of the Year competition which awards those members who are most active. The member who gains the most points for the year will have his/her name inscribed on the perpetual trophy and be honored at the annual banquet. In addition, the top five (5) point finishers for the first half (January through May) and the second half (June through November) of the competetive year will receive gift certificates valued as follows: 1st) $100.00; 2nd) $80.00; 3rd) $60.00; 4th) $40.00; 5th) $20.00. The NCGA provides a monthly list of our club’s Most Improved Golfer (minimum: 20 rounds played in a calendar year, with 2 rounds posted in club events). This listing will be the ‘measuring stick’ for our Most Improved Golfer award, given at our Annual Dinner. A Plaque commemorating this achievement will be awarded.
Details of upcoming tournaments will be posted on the website. All full members of the Shoreline Golf Club are eligible for tournament play. The following major tournaments require a member to have 20 posted scores on the USGA GHIN Computer System OR you must have at least five (5) scores turned into the Handicap Chairman, of which at least two (2) scores are from Club tournaments (where a score was posted): MATCH PLAY, MEDAL PLAY, NCGA 4-MAN ZONE, NCGA 2-MAN & INDIVIDUAL NET qualifying.
Tournament Entry Forms are available on the website at http://www.shorelinegc.com/entry_forms.php. Entries open three (3) months prior to the tournament date. Please be sure to sign up for events before the cut off date and before the allotted number of entries is filled to reserve your place in the tournament. Entries received after the field is full will be placed on the waiting list. In the event of an opening, the Tournament Chairman will contact you to let you know you’ve been entered. The posted tee times on the website will be updated as changes are made before a tournament, so if you’re on the waiting list, check the web site the day and evening before the event to see if you’ve been slotted into the tournament and assigned a tee time.
Tournament fees must be paid by CHECK ONLY made out to SHORELINE GOLF CLUB, no exceptions. Indicate in the memo section on your check which tournament the check is for and the names of the members you are paying for. Each tournament must be paid with a separate check.
The cut off date for all tournaments will be stated on the entry form. If you fail to sign up prior to the cut off date, you may be permitted to play if we have an opening. For home tournaments, the maximum number of entries will be finalized 10 days prior to the tournament, based upon the current number of entries. For away tournaments, the club notify the course up to 30 days in advance to confirm the number of players and the number tee times required.
The official starting times will be available no later than Thursday before the tournament date. The times will be posted on our website at http://www.shorelinegc.com/teetimes.php.
If you must cancel from a tournament, you must notify the Tournament Chairman by telephone or by email at tournaments@shorelinegc.com.
Because prize payouts and flights are determined before the tournament, failure to appear at a tournament without prior notification will result in the player being liable for payment of the entry fee portion of the tournament entry fee, usually $10 for a single day tournament. A second offense will be considered a serious breach of Club policy; any penalties will be handled by the Board of Directors.
Except for our majors which usually require mandatory tee box assignments, all tournaments are flighted by Course Handicap from the White Tees. Course handicaps are determined first for the White Tees, with the appropriate adjustment to the Blue Tee course handicap made pursuant to USGA guidelines. Lady’s course handicaps will be calculated from the Red Tees with the appropriate adjustment made to the White Tees pursuant to USGA guidelines. The Tournament Chairman will attempt to make the division of flights as equal as possible, however the distribution of White Tee course handicaps in an event sometimes means that there may be more players in one flight than another. New members without 5 recorded scores will play to a course handicap of zero (0) from the White Tees and a course handicap of three (3) from the Blue Tees.
If a player is not ready to tee off at the scheduled time, he will be either (i) assessed a 2 stroke penalty in stroke play events to be recorded on the player’s score for the first hole or (ii) disqualified in accordance with USGA rule 6-3. The Tournament Committee will make the decision, considering special circumstances.
The Shoreline Golf Club has a pace of play policy in effect. The policy leaves the responsibility for maintaining pace of play where it belongs -- with you, the player.
If you fall behind on one hole, you are expected to play efficient golf and get back into position. This might mean playing ready golf for a hole or two and doing continuous putting. Both of which are allowed in stroke play.
If you are the first group in the field, play efficient golf. If you are in a following group, keep up with the group in front of you and you will not have a pace of play issue.
Bad weather is not of itself a good reason to discontinue play (USGA Rule 6-8). A player may only discontinue play if there is lightning.
Course Unplayable: (USGA Rule 33-2d) Play may be suspended due to Unplayable conditions. The Pro Shop will have the full responsibility for determining if play should be suspended. If play is suspended, you must finish the hole you are playing. While play is suspended, you may stay on the course or return to the clubhouse. The Pro Shop will determine when play can be resumed. If play cannot be resumed, the Tournament Committee will announce whether play can be rescheduled for another day or canceled.
When course conditions dictate preferred lies, the tournament chairman will post winter rules. The following procedure will be followed:
Through the green, mark, lift, clean and place your ball within one (1) Club length of your mark (not nearer the hole).
Each player is solely responsible for signing and attesting his/her correct score prior to submitting his/her scorecard to the tournament committee, unless otherwise instructed by the tournament committee. Failure to properly sign and attest your score may result in a disqualification for that tournament.
The procedure for breaking ties will be announced before each tournament (check the tournament rules sheet). Typically, ties will be broken by matching cards in accordance with the USGA recommended method (matching back nine scores to start).
Tournament results will be posted on our website at http://www.shorelinegc.com/results.
Gift Certificates for tournament winners will be held in an alphabetical folder in the Pro Shop. Pot game monies will be distributed at tournaments and monthly meetings.
All players are covered. If a member scores an ace in a club tournament, the club will cover the expenses of one (1) drink per player in that tournament. Any member scoring a witnessed hole-in-one will be presented with an award at the annual awards banquet. Please turn in a copy of your signed and attested scorecard to any Board member.
The NCGA/USGA handicap system (equitable stroke control) is used. It’s two (2) requirements are 1) know and play by the Rules of Golf; and 2) post your adjusted gross score for every round of golf played. Every member must post a correct adjusted gross score for every round of golf played under the rules of golf in match, stroke or best ball play. If no score is posted, the handicap chairman will post for you, either your adjusted score for the day or a ‘PEN’ score, whichever is lower. A ‘PEN’ score is your lowest listed differential (of your last 20 rounds or less). If a member is habitual in failing to post scores, or if his handicap is not indicative of his ability, he will be reviewed by the Board of Directors. The Handicap Chairman may change the members handicap by written notice to the NCGA and to the member. NCGA Handicap Computer Service is used to determine your handicap.
Rounds played at Shoreline - are to be posted at the NCGA/GHIN computer located in the Pro Shop.
Rounds played at away courses - Post your adjusted gross score on the GHIN computer at the away course immediately after your round. If you forget to post your score at an away course, bring your scorecard to Shoreline and post the score as an away score on the NCGA/GHIN computer in the Pro Shop or you may post your away scores online using GHIN Internet Posting.
If you have any questions, additions, deletions to this bulletin, please contact any Board member.
